Even the simplest of bows added to a card makes it more special. With this collection of coloured chiffon ribbons, you can make decorative bows for all your cards and boxes this Christmas. Remember for a decent size bow for a box or present, you will need about 2 metres of ribbon to get the right effect. The bigger hoops of the bow should be about 4 - 5 inches in length, getting gradually smaller as you get to the crown of the bow. This will make the chiffon bow more voluminous.
Chiffon Ribbons

Several ancient cultures, including the Egyptians and Chinese, practiced chromotherapy, which is healing with colours. Chromotherapy is sometimes referred to as light therapy or colourology and is still used today as a holistic or alternative treatment. In this treatment:
- Red is used to stimulate the body and mind and to increase circulation
- Yellow is thought to stimulate the nerves and purify the body
- Orange is used to heal the lungs and to increase energy levels
- Blue is believed to soothe illnesses and treat pain
- Indigo shades are thought to alleviate skin problems.
When making a get well card, try adding the relevant colour ribbon for that extra special touch.
Also, try to balance and match the colour of the ribbon with the colour of the card and overall design. Here's a great site that explains how complementary colours can work to help make your cards more appealing. Go to the Colour Matters site (opens in new window).
